Dreaming Of...COLOUR
Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 10:47AM I never made a properly nursery for my girl when we lived in Japan, partly because anything remotely attractive was basically unpayable. Okay, and also because with a new baby, new country, and new house coming all at once, I couldn't really muster the energy.
This time round, though, I'm making up for lost time.
While our container is in transit and all of our worldly possessions are locked away somewhere between here and Japan, decorating projects are on hold, but I'm dreaming of getting my girl's room ready for happy afternoons of "Mama! Play cook!" and "Mama! Colouring!!!"
I see white walls. I see pops of colour. I see a galley wall. Perhaps a teepee? Touches of japanoiserie as we tip our hat to the place where my girl was born. There'll be oversized pillows in all manner of patterns. And bunting. Because, come on. We must have bunting.

Lots of happy colourful dreams! I can't wait for our shipment to arrive so that I can get started.

So.much.fun!! I love all the colors and decorations pictured above. We have that bookcase so of course it's uber cool, chaaa!
With the imminent arrival of our first, I thought we'd have the same flashes of inspiration but we're too tired, busy, running around like headless chickens. That said, I'm loving some of these images and looking forward to taking time out to properly kit the little one's room out in due course. I didn't scroll down far enough at first and thought the first picture was the end result of your daughter's room. Wow, I thought :) Hey. your site is looking great by the way. Been a few changes over these parts!
OOh I loved this post. Now that my energy is back I am in major home decor/design mode. We've got similar taste for sure. So fun to decorate a home with little ones, fresh and fun! Hope you post more of these. Miss you majorly.
Thanks, Russell! Yes, I've done a bit of a redesign (I guess the stars are aligned for decorating). Setting up the babe's room is such a fun thing, but also kind of needlessly stressful. Stella slept in our room for her first year, and we basically never went into her (undecorated) bedroom except to dump piles of laundry and stuff.
Krista, you're totally my hippie design guru! I can't WAIT to see what you've done with your place!
Tiffany...I love that bookshelf. I'm thinking that I'll have one made here, but ombre it out...because, obvs. Must do.
