Everyone told me that the traffic in Jakarta was bad, but it has to be seen to be believed. Where we live, it's like this. Pretty much always.

Kathleen, I'm actually questioning the logic of the bike. The traffic is so crazy and pollution so dense that I'd be afraid to go anywhere on my bike. Even the sidewalks, where they exist, are a maze of random holes revealing open sewers beneath. So.
While it is true that central Jakarta does close some roads to traffic the last sunday of the month, I"m not sure that 12 days of cycling warent moving the the bikes.
Too bad I didn't figure this out sooner....you could have been the recipient of two very nice and very shiny red bikes!!
