You guys, I have something to tell you.

We're moving. Hurrah!!! And also, poopsicles.

I can't tell you much more than that right now. Because part of the blogging busienss model is to be cagey and dramatic and keep people guessing about what is happening in your life and why you need to be so dark and poetic and say stuff without actually saying stuff.

That and also because Mr. Chef has not officially signed anything. Nor do we have any tickets. Or visas. Or ideas about what we're going to do with our fur children. Who are not invited. Wah. Wha. Also WAHHHHA. (PS totally unsarcastic. I'm, like, legit supersad about this.)

What we know is that it's happening. Allegedly. Sometime. Maybe August? Like right around the time when I'm supposed to be on vacationn? The vacation to replace the one that had to be canceled at the behest of the company because of Important Secret Spy Chefsicle duties?

Anyway, aside from pooping in my pants, and being insanely excited about the prospect of new vistas, new firends, new foods, and possibly a drinking out of a coconut with a straw while hammocking my heart out, I'm spending my time alternating between having anxiety attacks about what needs to be done before we go and wanting to stick my head in a sandbox full of Xanax and IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE. I'm also making lists. Lists. Lists. Lists. Then ignoring my lists and complaining about just how much there is to do and how I have no idea where to start because there's so much and I need to write it all down and colour code it all and then make spreadsheets and deadlines, and then I freak out because that just seems like so much stuff and so I'd better just drink a beer and watch Breaking Bad.

Wow! Exciting times! But your poor kitties!I wish I could offer them a home or be a foster Mum to them! But I don't think they would get on with my rabbit very much!

Ooh how exciting and stressful all at once! Focus on the hammocks and relaxation and new friends and hopefully the packing, visas and other dramas will take care of themselves!

Thanks, Claire. Man...it is pretty stressful, to be honest. I am excited, but it's hard to focus on that with all the unknowns in my life right now.

Oh, Laura, you're so sweet. Our cats ARE very good with children, but fur children, with long ears and fluffy tails, that's another thing entirely. ;) I'm sure we'll figure it all out soon...but right now there are so many unknowns!

Fun fact: if you're getting the assistance of a household goods shipment, moving companies familiar with international moves can often facilitate pet shipment (yay). If it's a case of importing the pets not being legal or far more hassle than it might be worth (as I know it's tricky in China, amongst other places), well, that I can't advise on.

Ooh! Exciting!!

Sorry to hear about the cats though. We left our dog behind when we came to Japan last year and it was heartbreaking.

BUT so many other things for you all to look forward to!!! YAY!!

How wonderful for you guys! When I first told my mom that I was dating a chef, she pointed out how flexible and open the profession is and that his skills would be in demand all over the world. After 6 years in the UK (originally from Canada), I am starting to get itchy feet. Bur for the time being I am going to live vicariously through you. Congrats!!!
